8 Ball
8 Ball is by far the most popular team format offered in amateur league play. Using all 15 balls in the rack, the purpose of this game is for one player to pocket the solid balls (1 to 7) or the striped balls (9-15), then mark and pocket the 8 Ball before his opponent.
8 & 9 Ball Rules
One point is awarded for each match won. Teams try to win as many of the 5 weekly matches as possible. At the end of the session, those teams with the most points advance to the Playoffs and/or the Session Preliminaries. Teams who win their Session Preliminaries enter the Championship Finals to compete for a trip to the APA National Team Championships in Las Vegas and a travel assistance fund of $8,000 per team.
During the session teams and individual members may earn trophies, awards, and eligibility for members-only tournaments, special events and more. Check out the Calendar of Events and the rest of the Triad APA website for more info.
